Easy 2 Ingredient Dog Treats for Sensitive Dogs

This easy 2 ingredient recipe was developed out of necessity. My dog seems to have a reaction to every single treat on the market. Typically, I use a different flavor of Purina Pro Plan for training. He can even have GI issues from a handful of kibble from a different protein. We spent a lot of time making kibble valuable, but I really wanted a jackpot treat. On special occasions he receives a small handful of these for exceptional work.

This recipe is incredibly simple, it takes 1 hour end to end. The other major draw is that it is extremely cost effective. 1 package (3lbs) of 97% lean turkey is <$20 at the local grocery store and can be as cheap as $3-$4 per pound at places like Costco. A 12 count of eggs in my area costs $2.50. This means that an entire baking tray of treats will cost about $20 if not less. This volume of treats easily fills 2 quart sized freezer bags. For reference you can buy a 16oz bag of training treats for $15 so for almost the same price you can make 2 extra lbs of snacks. All that without the tummy troubles.

Ingredients

  • 3lbs lean ground meat (the less fat the better I prefer turkey)
  • 6-8 eggs

This is what your dog treats will look like before going into the oven if you use turkey.

Trust me I know that this looks horrifying but baking the treats in a single sheet will be way easier and faster than baking individual treats.
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Next, place 1/3 of the ground meat into your blender with 2 eggs. Blend on high until the eggs are completely incorporated.
  3. Then, spread the meat out onto a baking sheet covered in aluminum foil. The foil is incredibly important do NOT forget to foil.
  4. Repeat until you have incorporated all of the eggs into the meat. If the mixture is slightly too thick, add additional eggs until the meat is light and fluffy.
  5. Finally, place the entire baking sheet into the oven and bake for 30-40min. 40 minutes will make a spongy soft consistency when cooled.
  6. Once the sheet is cooled to the touch, use a large knife to cut the sheet into cubes. you could also use a cookie cutter if you want them to look cute.
  7. I store them in the freezer and thaw them a handful at a time to use for training.

This is what your final result will look like! Have fun mixing things up and adding more things to this super easy 2 ingredient recipe.
